OpenID Foundation Member Announcement – Update to How You Log in at openid.net

Published April 22, 2025

Dear OpenID Foundation Members,

The OpenID Foundation (OIDF) is updating the way you log in at openid.net. Logins at https://openid.net/foundation/members currently use a no-longer-supported service called Janrain Engage. OIDF looked at extending the Janrain Engage solution to offer more social login options but was unable to do so as it is no longer supported.

After evaluating two alternatives from member organizations, OIDF is replacing the current Janrain Engage login with Hellō, a modern identity provider aligned with our mission of giving people greater control and choice in asserting their identity.  It offers a standards-based solution that furthers OIDF’s commitment to user-centric identity.

Hellō is led by Dick Hardt, one of the Foundation’s original founders. OIDF is grateful for Dick’s and the Hellō team's’ time and efforts to get the Hellō solution implemented to improve the login experience for OIDF members.

The Hellō solution will go live in April 2025. You will receive an email with detailed instructions at the email address associated with your OIDF membership. We request that you transition to the Hellō solution as soon as you receive the instructions so that you are able to vote on upcoming specification polls.

The Hellō solution is easy to set up and use, but if you run into any issues, please email the OIDF Help Desk at help@oidf.org

Thank you again to Dick and Hellō for this important update and contribution to the Foundation.
