Informally we consider board membership and then likelihood of general awareness. I would like to see us have a better policy for which logos are shown — perhaps as a benefit to corporate membership — but for now, we chose companies that would help demonstrate that OpenID is being used by some global, familiar brands. @Kaliya: Thanks for the feedback! And yes, you're right — we've intentionally hidden some of the more advanced features and benefits in order to make it easier for people who have never even thought about digital identity to have a place to get started with learning about the technology. We're constantly trying to balance the needs of new users with those entrenched in the identity community, and it's not easy! The old frame of openID is "one" identity for you to use everywhere didn't reflect what was true about the technology that you could have several openID's if you wanted linked to different persona's.
